Pennbury “Eco” Town will Decimate James Coles’s Nurseries

The Co-operative Estates have finally, under pressure, revealed their actual plans for Pennbury “eco” town. Or at least in so far as they have narrowed their options down to one whereby Pennbury “eco” town will be one separate town around the Leicester Airport site. The town will have three park-and-ride sites.

One of these park-and-ride sites, planned to accommodate upto 1000 cars, will be on fields currently owned by James Coles’s Nurseries. James Coles’s Nurseries have been farming the land for growing trees to sell in its and other garden centres. Tom Richardson, director at James Coles’s commented via the Leicester Mercury, “We knew nothing about this… We totally abhor this notion of an eco-town – it’s an abomination on the landscape. We’ll fight it tooth and claw.”
